We build
community together.
Turn your vision into community impact in the Walla Walla Valley.
The Sherwood Trust works to create a community where everyone in the Walla Walla Valley belongs, contributes, and thrives.
As a catalyst and partner, we multiply the impact of local nonprofits and community leaders by providing funding, capacity, and connections that turn good ideas into sustainable results.
We build community together.
We support projects that strengthen the foundation of our community.
The nonprofit organizations and public agencies that we support work to make the Walla Walla Valley stronger and more connected. Their work includes projects that bring people together and deepen community well-being, as well as efforts that help organizations grow through thoughtful staffing, planning, and systems improvements.
We also invest in the places and tools nonprofits depend on — buildings, equipment, and other physical assets — so programs can stay strong, safe, and accessible to the people who rely on them.

TOTAL SUPPORT
A long tradition of building belonging in the Walla Walla Valley.
Sherwood Trust continues the legacy and dedication of Donald and Virginia Sherwood, who spent their lives contributing to make the Walla Walla Valley a better place to live.
Donald and Virginia Sherwood believed deeply in education, opportunity, and community, devoting their lives to strengthening the region they called home. Their story reflects both determination and a lasting commitment to investing in others.
Their influence reached across Walla Walla. Donald’s business leadership shaped regional industries, downtown development, and major civic projects, including the Alder Street library.
Together, he and Virginia became two of Whitman College’s most significant supporters, helping secure its long-term financial stability.
Their philanthropy was grounded in the belief that communities grow stronger through shared effort.
In 1991, the Sherwoods created Sherwood Trust to continue this work. Today, the Trust invests in the people and organizations that make the Walla Walla Valley vibrant and resilient. Guided by the principle “We Build Community Together,” Sherwood Trust honors their legacy by supporting a stronger, more connected future for the region.
