We build
community together.
Sherwood Trust supports belonging in the Walla Walla Valley.
Sherwood Trust works to create a community where everyone in the Walla Walla Valley belongs, contributes, and thrives.
As a catalyst and partner, we multiply the impact of local nonprofits and community leaders by providing funding, capacity, and connections that turn good ideas into sustainable results.
We build community together.
We support projects that strengthen the foundation of our community.
Sherwood Trust supports nonprofit organizations and public agencies that work to make the Walla Walla Valley better for everyone here. This includes projects that bring people together and deepen community well-being, as well as efforts that help organizations grow through thoughtful staffing, planning, and systems improvements.
We also invest in the places and tools nonprofits depend on — buildings, equipment, and other physical assets — so programs can stay strong, safe, and accessible to the people who rely on them.

A long tradition of building belonging in the Walla Walla Valley.
Sherwood Trust continues the legacy and dedication of Donald and Virginia Sherwood, who spent their lives contributing to make the Walla Walla Valley a better place to live.
Donald and Virginia Sherwood believed deeply in education, opportunity, and community, devoting their lives to strengthening the region they called home. Their story reflects both determination and a lasting commitment to investing in others.
Their influence reached across Walla Walla. Donald’s business leadership shaped regional industries, downtown development, and major civic projects, including the Alder Street library.
Together, he and Virginia became two of Whitman College’s most significant supporters, helping secure its long-term financial stability.
Their philanthropy was grounded in the belief that communities grow stronger through shared effort.
In 1991, the Sherwoods created Sherwood Trust to continue this work. Today, the Trust invests in the people and organizations that make the Walla Walla Valley vibrant and resilient. Guided by the principle “We Build Community Together,” Sherwood Trust honors their legacy by supporting a stronger, more connected future for the region.

Walla Walla’s wine industry is built by many hands.
The work of VITAL Wines focuses on health equity, especially for Latino agricultural workers who may face language barriers, limited access to care, seasonal income pressures, or uncertainty about where to turn for help.
Sherwood Trust is proud to support VITAL Wines’ Promotora de Salud programming with a 2026 Core Grant.
