After-School Support Returns to Vista Hermosa

2026 Core Grant: $100,000 for after-school programming in Vista Hermosa

In Vista Hermosa, after-school programming is more than a place for students to go when the school day ends. It is a source of stability, learning, connection, and care for children and families.

Mano a Mano’s work is rooted in community. The organization serves Vista Hermosa families in ways that respond to real needs, from food access to youth support. With new funding for after-school programming, Mano a Mano will help bring back a program that gives students a safe, structured place to learn, grow, and belong.

For families, after-school programs can make daily life more manageable. For students, they can open doors. A strong program can offer homework help, enrichment, mentorship, recreation, and the steady presence of adults who know the community and care about each child’s future. Those hours after school can become a time when young people build confidence, strengthen skills, and see new possibilities for themselves.

The return of this programming is especially meaningful because it reflects local leadership. Mano a Mano understands Vista Hermosa from the inside. Its work is not separate from the community; it grows out of relationships with the families it serves.

Sherwood Trust is proud to support Mano a Mano with a 2026 Core Grant for after-school programming in Vista Hermosa. The grant helps make space for young people to be supported, encouraged, and connected right where they live.
