More Space for Care, Learning, and Connection

2026 Core Grant: $250,000 for a new learning center

For more than three decades, Blue Mountain Heart to Heart has helped people in Southeast Washington access care, information, and support when they need it most.

The organization’s work began with HIV prevention and care and has grown into a broader public health role in the region. Today, Blue Mountain Heart to Heart provides advocacy, education, prevention strategies, clinical services, and support for people living with chronic conditions. At the center of that work is a simple but powerful commitment: helping people move through health challenges with dignity.

That kind of work matters because health care does not begin and end in an exam room. It includes trust. It includes education. It includes a safe place to ask questions, learn options, and connect with people who can help. For many community members, especially those navigating stigma, chronic illness, substance use, housing instability, or barriers to care, Blue Mountain Heart to Heart is one of the places where support feels possible.

A new learning center at the organization’s Walla Walla facilities will strengthen that role. It will create more room for education, connection, and community-based health support, helping Blue Mountain Heart to Heart reach people earlier, serve them more effectively, and build knowledge that can improve health over time.

Sherwood Trust is proud to support Blue Mountain Heart to Heart’s work with a 2026 Core Grant. The grant helps invest in a local organization that has been meeting people where they are since 1991 and continues to build a healthier, more connected region.
