Community Council – A forum for citizen-driven, consensus-based problem solving to tackle challenges throughout the greater Walla Walla area.
Commitment to Community – This program at Blue Mountain Action Council builds strong communities through building strong neighborhoods. They promote grassroots organizing in some of Walla Walla’s most economically challenged neighborhoods.
Community Resilience Initiative – An organization that promotes a community building framework based on trauma-informed principles and resilience practices.

CAPACITY BUILDING
501 Commons – Provides programs and services to support nonprofit organizations to accomplish their mission. Their website includes a Statewide Nonprofit Resource Directory.
BoardSource – A national organization focused on nonprofit governance.
Communities Rise - Provides capacity building resources and legal services for nonprofit organizations and microenterprises (this is a new organization formed from the merger of Wayfind and the Nonprofit Assistance Center).
CompassPoint – Provides capacity building resources for nonprofit organizations.
Nonprofit Association of Washington – Provides a statewide association to connect the more than 50,000 nonprofit organizations in Washington State and supports advocacy, education, and capacity building. Their website includes free training materials, including Finance Unlocked for Nonprofits.
Rural Development Initiatives – Seeks to enhance economic vitality in rural communities.

Walla Walla Valley Communication Strategies for Latino Outreach - This document is a collection of tips and strategies on how to engage Latino community members in area activities. This collaboration with local leaders was compiled by Sherwood Trust staff to serve as a resource to ensure that everyone in the Walla Walla Valley has a sense of belonging and contributes to a thriving region.
Reaching and Engaging with Hispanic Communities: A Research-Informed Communication Guide for Nonprofits, Policymakers, and Funders - Resource developed by Alicia Torres, Luz Guerra, Selma Caal, and Weilin Li, sponsored by the Crimson Foundation and Child Trends: Hispanic Institute.
National Coalition Building Institute - An international leadership organization that provides training in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in community organizations, K-12 schools, college and university campuses, corporations and law enforcement. Their "Leading Diverse Communities” handbook is the text for Sherwood Trust’s 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship program.
