Community Grants
Sherwood Trust supports grant proposals that are designed to build the capacity of communities in the Walla Walla area.
They fall into three categories.
- Capital Project Grant. This grant-type involves a capital project (bricks and mortar) where the project itself is the prmary focus rather than the sponsoring nonprofit organization due to the substantial benefit to the surrounding neighborhood or the community at large. - Neighborhood Grant. This grant-type encourages and supports neighborhood residents to take the initiative to address critical issues as owners of their neighborhoods. The grant applicant typically is a broad-based, grassroots neighborhood group of individuals, who come together solely for the purpose of a specific capital project. The group is likely to require a sponsoring nonprofit organization, the mission of which is aligned with the proposed capital project. Click here for more information.
- Program Grant. This grant-type provides operating funds or seed money for either new or expanded programs that will effectively address unmet and critical needs in the Walla Walla Valley. The requesting nonprofit organization should be established with competent management and a proven history in managing similar programs. Further, there must be a high likelihood of success for the proposed program to be ongoing and self-funding at the end of the grant period. Click here for more information.
